Asynchronous Transfer Mode

Asynchronous Transfer Mode: (ATM), a protocol for efficient transport of constant-rate and bursty information over broadband digital networks. The ATM stream consists of fixed-length cells each containing a 5-byte header and a 48-byte payload.
