Common Alerting Protocol

Common Alerting Protocol
(CAP), an open standard format for all types of alert and notification messages that is based on XML and supports SAME; CAP allows a warning message to be consistently disseminated over many warning systems to many applications, increasing warning effectiveness and simplifying the task of activating a warning for responsible officials. The CAP standard was developed by OASIS and has been submitted to the ITU for adoption.
