Multi-Mode Fiber

Multi-Mode Fiber
(MM Fiber), a type of optical fiber that can carry large amounts of power in the 850 nm transmission window over distances of 550 meters or less. Multimode fibers are typically used for premises cabling because they can be powered by LEDs and lower cost Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers and are easier to splice than the Single Mode Fiber use for long distances.
