- PM10 or Large Particulates, airborne particulate matter or aerosols with particle sizes of 10 microns or micrometers or less. Larger particles are filtered in the nose and throat but particulate matter smaller than about 10 micrometers can settle in the bronchi and lungs and cause health problems.
