Switch

Switch
1) an electrical switch provides the ability to connect or disconnect one or more circuits, there are also many specialized electrical switches, see for example Static Transfer Switch, Limit Switch; 2) a telephone switch or circuit switch provides the ability to make selective connections between on or more inputs and outputs; 3) a network switch, such as an Ethernet switch, connects together multiple physical networks (or segments) into a larger network by selectively forwarding packets or frames while providing isolation between network segments, a switch may also provide the ability to monitor and manage network links; 4) a video switch or audio/video switch enables selective connection of multiple sources to one or more displays or recorders, see also Switched Digital Video and KVM switch.
